Languages

Maori

All students have the opportunity to learn Te Reo Maori (Maori Language) and Tikanga (Customs) for six months in each year they spend at Rangeview.  Classes are 40 minutes in duration.  The course involves pronunciation, greetings, communication excercises, Marae protocol, Maori legends, weaving and many other activities.

Kapa Haka - Maori Culture Group

Kapa Haka is offered to all students who are interested in learning about the Maori Performing Arts e.g. poi, haka, action songs and chants.   There are two groups, a non-competitive and competitive group. Both grups aer involved in school powhiri (welcomes) and various performing engagements in the community.

Language Extension

As part of our Day 0 programme, we are very fortunate to offer the students a variety of language options.  These include Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish.

Pasifica Group

Students have an opportunity to participate in a Pacific Island Cultural Group.  Here they learn traditional action songs and have the opportunity to perform in front of the school at the end of the year.
