Librarians: Mrs Oldham Email: [email protected]
Library hours: Mon-Thurs 8:30am - 3:30pm
At lunchtime students may read, draw, play cards, chess and other games. Computers can be booked for school work or games on the booking sheet at the issues desk. We appreciate quiet voices and good manners. On Whisper Wednesday there are no computer games or other loud activities. Computers are available for study and research needs, and talking should be kept to a minimum.
Students regularly visit the library with their Integrated Literacy class once each 10 day cycle.
We encourage students to read for pleasure and use library resources, print and online, for research purposes.
Our librarians are always happy to help with choosing suitable reading material and other information requirements.
We have a group of dedicated student librarians who help out at lunchtime.
Borrowing limits:
4 fiction and 4 non-fiction books for 2 weeks.
If required books may be extended for a further 2 weeks.
Additional borrowing may be allowed, with the librarian’s permission.
If a book is lost or badly damaged replacement cost may be required.
We recommend that you keep your library books in a book bag to prevent damage.
Rangeview Readers Book Club
Each week we will have a Readers Book Club where we enjoy talking about books, do book crafts, take quizzes and other reading-related activities.
(Students must have a permission slip signed and returned to the librarian before attending if the book club happens to be after school.)
Each year we enter teams in the international Kids’ Lit Quiz™, and the West Auckland Book Battle, and celebrate other events, such as NZ Book Month and various book awards.
Every student should spend at least 15 minutes per day reading for pleasure. This will put a million words in their brain over the course of a year. Regular readers are better readers.
