Learning Centre (Library)
Rangeview Intermediate has an excellent Learning Centre (Library) with an extensive catalogue. We are also able to borrow books from the National Library to support topics being explored in class and extend the number of books available to our students.
We are currently expanding our selection of Graphic novels to meet demand, but we also have many other books (both Fiction and Non-fiction) to choose from, with new titles being added weekly.
The librarian is Mrs Petersen, who would love to see you all pop in and select some amazing books to read! Email: [email protected]
Check out our library blog where you can explore the library catalogue and some online resources we have linked, such as the Interactive Science database and NZ Geographic which has their entire collection available online. Click on this link to find our blog site:

Library hours:
8:30 am - 3:30pm Monday - Thursday
8:30 am – 2:30 Friday
At lunchtime students may read, draw, play cards, chess and other games. Computers can be booked for schoolwork or games on the booking sheet at the issues desk. We appreciate quiet voices and good manners. On Whisper Wednesday there are no computer games or other loud activities. Computers are available for study and research needs,
Students have regular library visits as part of their Integrated Literacy classes, once each 10-day cycle, but they are also able to borrow and return books during before and after school, or during lunch times.
We encourage students to read for pleasure and use library resources, print and online, for research purposes. We have a wonderful group of dedicated student librarians who help at lunchtime and are always happy to help with choosing suitable reading material and other information requirements.
Borrowing limits:
Students may borrow a total of 8 books, 4 fiction and 4 non-fiction books for 2 weeks. If required books may be extended for a further 2 weeks. If a book is lost or badly damaged replacement costs may be required. We recommend that library books are kept in a book bag to prevent damage.
Library Events:
Each year we enter teams in the international Kids’ Lit Quiz™, and the West Auckland Book Battle, and celebrate other events, such as NZ Book Month and various book awards.
Every student should spend at least 15 minutes per day reading for pleasure. This will put a million words in their brain over the course of a year. Regular readers are better readers.
