Ko Atuolo te mauga, Ko Vaisigano te awa, Ko Lady Samoa te waka, Ko Samoa te Iwi, Ko Iva te hapu, Ko Christina toku ingoa.  I have referenced my ancestors in Samoa from the beautiful island of Savai’i.

I am 1st Generation Samoan, Born and Bred in New Zealand, I am a widowed mother of 4 growing teenagers, I have three daughters ages 17, 15, and 14 and a 13 year old boy.  Three of my four children have attended Rangeview Intermediate School.

Last year I was co-opted on the Board as a Parent representative.  The journey so far has been amazing and rewarding.  This year one of the highlights, has been the opportunity to travel with other Board members to Rotorua, this provided ample time and space for us to get to know one another.

As a Pacific Learner I have first hand experienced  of the challenges faced within Education, the tasks of trying to navigate the processes, as well as learning how to walk the two worlds; the Pacific and the Western world.  I am passionate and keen to ensure that there are not only better outcomes for Pacific, Maori and miniority groups, but there is a reciprocal understanding of values and knowledge.  It does take a village to guide, nurture and care for our children, I am part of that village.
